Swag Discussion Series | Week 1

I previously viewed automation to streamline repetitive work. This week challenged that perception a bit. It showed me how automation can help manage entire workflows, respond to exceptions, assist with decision-making, and have Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) if needed. For us, that could mean extending automation beyond routine transactions and into more dynamic operational and support processes.

My Assumption this week: I used to think automation was mainly about replacing repetitive tasks with bots. After learning the Agentic Design Framework, I realized successful automation starts much earlier - with understanding the business problem, identifying the desired outcome, and deciding whether automation is even the right solution. Mozart Orchestrator —The Brand new way of designing intelligent automations.

What really stood out to me was the importance of breaking a process into decisions, exceptions, and human interactions before building anything. Instead of jumping straight into development, I'm now thinking about why a process exists, where AI can add value, and how humans and intelligent agents can work together.

I am rethinking the assumption that automation means replicating human actions. Historically, we looked at what a human does and instructed a bot to mimic it. This week taught me to look at what the business problem is before even thinking about the build. By deconstructing the problem first, I realised that agentic automation on Automation Anywhere isn't about automating a task it’s about orchestrating a business outcome. Shifting from 'how do I automate this click?' to 'what is the ultimate objective of this process?' allows AI to find the most efficient path, often bypassing the manual steps entirely

What's one assumption about automation you're rethinking after this week?

I assumed building enterprise AI agents required a core IT background, but Week 1 proved me wrong. The Agentic Design Framework highlighted that the true secret weapon in Agentic Process Automation is an intuitive understanding of business processes and problem deconstruction. By learning how to rephrase business logic for AI, the barrier to entry has vanished. This insight has completely transformed my confidence and my perception of what I can build on the Automation Anywhere platform.

Week 1 was a great introduction to the bigger picture of intelligent automation. I used to think automation was mainly about reducing repetitive work, but this week showed me how it can also improve consistency, visibility, and collaboration across business processes. It helped me understand that successful automation starts with understanding the process itself before implementing technology. I’m looking forward to building on this foundation and learning how these concepts evolve in the coming weeks.
