Here’s a run down of the session
Why Conversational Automation? Did you know employees spend nearly 2.5 hours a day searching for info trapped in endless folders, chats, and systems? Imagine what could happen if that time was freed up for truly meaningful work. Our June Product Club session kicked off with Shane Patel painting this picture and sharing how Automation Co-Pilot is the game-changer that makes this possible.

By combining cutting-edge AI agents with our smart Process Reasoning Engine and Amazon Q’s generative AI, Automation Co-Pilot transforms clunky, frustrating workflows into smooth, natural conversations.

“No more hunting for buttons or menus, you can just ask and automation happens!”

During the demo
During the demo Shane showed us a sales rep effortlessly requesting a credit limit increase right inside Salesforce. The Co-Pilot assistant pulled data from multiple systems, extracted complex purchase order details, and helped the credit director make a fast, informed decision—all without leaving Microsoft Teams or Salesforce.

During the entire process, security was front and center, with Amazon Q’s built-in guardrails and role-based access ensuring the data stayed safe and compliant Further, Automation Co-Pilot’s embeddable design means your team can access automation help wherever they work.

The road ahead
Exciting new features are on the horizon, and we shared some of those things during the session. Think uploading videos and audio for AI to analyze, deeper multi-modal understanding, broader enterprise app integrations, and more ways to secure and manage your company’s knowledge.

Session Q&A
Q: Which features are on-premises and which ones are cloud-only?
A: At this time, the solution is cloud-only because it is built on Amazon Q. The architecture is tightly tied to Amazon Q’s capabilities, so customers need to be on AWS cloud to use it.

Q: What inputs are used for Automation Co-Pilot to know which task bots to run when using natural language? Is it just text?
A: It’s a combination of the name and description of the automation. The system uses a process reasoning engine to generate accurate, searchable descriptions to match user intents.

Q: Why embed Automation Co-Pilot in Salesforce versus using Salesforce’s own agents?
A: If all your data and AI needs fit within Salesforce, their native agents may suffice. But many use cases span multiple systems (SAP, ServiceNow, etc.). Using Automation Co-Pilot allows you to manage AI across all systems from one place, avoiding governance complexity and AI proliferation.

Q: Can I upload a file to the agent to extract information?
A: Yes. If the file can be processed through document automation or scripting exposed to the process, the agent can extract and return the information for user action.

Q: How does Automation Co-Pilot secure documents and data?
A: The solution uses role-based access controls (ACLs) to restrict document visibility by user role. This ensures users only see data they are authorized to access, maintaining enterprise-grade security.

Q: Is there a way to upload local desktop files for immediate chat-based querying?
A: Currently, documents must be uploaded via the knowledge page to sync with the system. Support for local, session-based file uploads for quick chat interaction is planned for a future release.
