You’ve seen them quite often around the Pathfinder-verse, heard them speak at events or virtual meetings, maybe even dialogued with them in a forum thread—they’re our Most Valuable Pathfinders! They are the spark keeping the Pathfinder Community ablaze, so it was about time we took a beat to really get to know each one of our MVPs better and share their unique stories with you!
So without further ado, let’s get to know…
Tim Long
The Basics
- Years of Automation Experience: 7+ years
- Current Company: The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas
- Official Title: Head of Digital & Data
But this is how Tim would actually describe what he does: I tell people I find ways to use technology to make our business run better.
- Biggest Professional Achievement to date: Leading the automation program at The Venetian is undoubtedly Tim’s biggest accomplishment to date. It was quite a challenge to build an automation program from scratch in an industry that was resistant to change and not very tech-savvy. However, Tim knew there were bountiful untapped automation opportunities. He successfully launched the program, built new relationships, and shifted the internal business culture—absolutely a proud achievement. We agree!
Five Fun Facts
- His birthday is October 15.
- His favorite books and movies are the Harry Potter franchise.
- Something adventurous he’d like to try is skydiving…although he might need a push out of the plane!
- If he could travel anywhere, he’d like to go back to Italy.
- If he could have any superpower, he’d like to predict the future! (How’s the future of automation, looking? )
Expertise / Specializations
Tim’s automation expertise is in typical RPA and UI automation. However, he and his team are tapping into other areas of automation, like Chatbots and API tasks. Tim prefers to add more tools to his toolbelt as the market matures. Currently, he is working toward integrating generative AI into the Venetian’s customer-facing chatbot and plans to launch an official pilot test within the next few months.
If Tim had one piece of advice for someone new to automation it would be:
“Never stop learning. If you stay ahead of the bar and continue to find new ways to deliver value to the business, YOU will always be a valuable asset.”
Tim in the Community
Tim is happy to be part of a few different professional automation groups. One in particular is a group of Fortune 500 Program Leaders who meet once a month, speak with various companies and leaders, and learn new perspectives and strategies to tackle challenges. Tim also enjoys mentoring promising individuals within his organization who don’t have an automation background. He likes to bring them into the fold and give them tools to help themselves.
As part of the MVP Program, Tim is excited to connect more closely with Automation Anywhere program leaders, impact the product roadmap, and generally become more in tune with the newest tech innovations.
What’s Next for Tim
Currently, Tim is transitioning from a digital automation role to a holistic innovation role, allowing him to oversee broad initiatives, from process automation to business model transformation. In this new role, he’s looking forward to disrupting his organization internally (in the best way!)
Thank you, Tim, for letting us all get to know you better. And thank you for your continued contributions to our Pathfinder Community!
