Meet ERIC

ERIC is our tool for ensuring that students have the correct access rights for our Training Camps and Challenges. It is a small diagnostic tool which runs the Automation Anywhere components you’ll need for the Camp/Challenge. This means that typically, ERIC will need to be run on a Bot Runner machine within your corporate network.

How to Use ERIC

Step 1: After you’ve received the login details to the Control Room from community@automationanywhere.com, you will need to login.

Step 2: Ensure you’ve connected your device to the Control Room (this could be a local or remote one). If you don’t see a green check mark in the red highlighted area then proceed to Step 3, otherwise, go to Step 10:

Step 3: Click the device icon on the bottom left and then select Connect local device

Step 4: This will begin the process of connecting your machine to the Control Room. Select Connect to my computer

Step 5: The bot agent will start to download. Once completed, open it and follow the on screen instructions.

Step 6: Once completed, back in your browser you should now see that the Control Room detects the connection:

Step 7: If the browser extension has not been installed, click on the link called “Automation Anywhere extension”:

Step 8: Then click, Add to Chrome in the new window (or the equivalent in Microsoft Edge) and Add Extension:

Step 9: Returning back to the Control Room you should now see that the extension is enabled and you’ve fully connected to the Control Room:

Step 10: In order to run ERIC correctly, your device must have a username and password entered. Click on your username at the bottom left of the screen and click My Settings:

Step 11: Then click on Devices and Edit, and enter in the username and password for your device:

Step 12: If you don’t know your username, open up a Windows Command Prompt and type whoami followed by a carriage return. You may see something like:

Note: Please speak to your IT Administrator if you can’t complete this step - we are unable to help you with your corporate settings.

Step 13: Back in the home page of the Control Room, navigate to the “Automation” link in the left menu. In the Public workspace you should see:

Step 14: From here, clone the ERIC process by clicking the 3 dots to the righthand side of ERIC and clicking on the first icon called Clone process:

Step 15: Then in the private workspace, click Copy process:

Step 16: IMPORTANT! Now click on the copied ERIC process:

Step 17: You should see the following screen. From here you can then select Run:

Step 18: You should see the following window open. Press Submit and ERIC will run and begin testing your connection:

Step 19: Click on the Results option on the left hand side and you will see ERIC’s results:

If you’re using Microsoft Edge, you may see a FAIL next to Bot Runner Chrome - this is totally fine. If you’re receiving any other errors, please follow the Common Issues links which you can see in the Results window of ERIC.

I’m checking this out and seeing something that does not align with instructions. Running my copy of Eric (I cloned from public, copied private, then run my copy) and this is what I see. It runs for quite a long time, and when

Immediately after starting, I get this pop-up…

I follow thru on those instructions, and I observe the bot runner at 80% for a few minutes,

What path is expected? What is my next step with completely this?

In addition to this, do I have to be uninstalling the bot agent every time I go to do training, and then switch back to work? It warned me about being connected to a control room already, which is what I wanted. I just wanted to run using my work bot creator control room. But it would not let me proceed with that.

Please ensure you click into the process and press Run as per Step 5.

Your images highlight that you’ve not done this.

Hello there, I registered my community edition and setup the credentials and as well connected the bot agents. However, I could not see the Public folder view or the “AI Training camps” under “Bots” ? pls advise.

Hi Vignesh, this isn’t available in the Community Edition. If you’ve registered for the APA Training Camp then you’ll receive credentials for the Control Room containing this.

Hello, I am not getting Pass status for the first 3...not getting error also...Please advice

@Devisri Solaipandiyan , unsure how this is happening. Are you following Lu’s instructions in the original post and connected your Bot Runner device to the CR?

Only 1 is showing as pass, above three are just blank, no error either

@Brij 3771 Have you connected your Bot Runner device to the CR and followed Lu’s instructions regarding cloning and copying the process?

Hi Team,

I have successfully executed the ERIC Process, and it completed without any issues. The process generated the expected output file: dataset_aitc.xlsx.

Additionally, the process successfully opened the "Introducing the Updated Pathfinder Framework" as intended.

Thanks,
Sai

Please find the ERIC Results in below.

Also need to copy ‘Test Bot Runners’ to change it to Edge:

Change the value in the ERIC copy here as well:

Hi @surendra.malapati,

ERIC will open a new Chrome window on your end.

Browser Extension is added and active?

Cheers

Marc

Ready to ROLL!

@Pramod 6186 - I’ve just pushed a change in the Test Bot Runners bot. Clone that down from public and follow the instructions in the comments in order to properly test with MS Edge.

All set and ready after a few retries! Initially I was getting error for Bot Runner Javascript but then triggered ERIC again and it worked somehow!

What I discovered with my failed “Bot Runner Javascript” may apply to others. I opened the browser tools and discovered numerous instances of the following message: “Content Security Policy”. It is my companies’ group policies that was preventing outside access. Site content listed below is blocked (facebook, for example.)

When I looked at the code within ERIC and saw the js “Hello World!”, I went to the developer tool’s console window and did just that. And that was ok.

So, check with your companies’ browser group policies and see if the policies are detecting communication activity that is not acceptable.

Hi all,

I am getting the following error when running ERIC, does anyone know how to fix it please?

Unable to download the bot or the dependencies to the device This may be due to multiple reasons. To continue, please 1. Make sure that there are no errors with the dependencies 2. Make sure there is enough disk space on the device for the bot and all of the dependencies 3. Make sure proxy configuration is setup to allow this download URL from this device. Then, try to run the bot again. If you continue to see this message, please contact your system administrator.

Thank you!

Try to uninstall the bot agent and re install and set the credential

Hi All

For anyone seeing:

Name: Your name

OUTPUTS:
Bot Runner AI Skill:
Bot Runner Download:
Bot Runner JavaScript:
API Task AI Skill: PASS

ERRORS:
Bot Runner AI Skill:
Bot Runner Download:
Bot Runner JavaScript:
API Task AI Skill: N/A

Go into the Test Bot Runners task bot in the Assets folder and make a copy of it. Go into the copy and change the strPath variable to be a location on your machine. Then set a breakpoint on line 5, press Debug and then Add all used variables and then hit the Play button. Once you reach the breakpoint use Step over to next action. The strError* variables will be your insight into what is occurring.
