java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NumberFormatException: null - Error in Unattended Mode

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue while running a bot in unattended mode in Automation Anywhere. The bot is throwing the following error:

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NumberFormatException: null

The bot runs perfectly fine in attended mode but fails in unattended mode with this error.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or have any insights on what could be causing this? Are there specific settings or configurations I should check?

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Check the regional formatting of the number.

In the EU, sometimes numbers are formatted like 123.456,78

In the US, numbers are formatted like 123,456.78

See if this is a number format issue.

Hi @Aaron.Gleason

Thanks for pointing this out! Could you let me know where we can check this specifically? Is it related to the VM’s regional settings or any application-specific configurations? If possible, could you provide some guidance or screenshots for reference?

Also, I checked under Control Panel → Region → Formats Tab on the VM, and the digit grouping symbol is currently set to , (comma), with the formatting appearing as 123,456,789.

Please let me know if there’s anything that needs to be changed here or if we need to address settings elsewhere. Appreciate your help!

Hi @Aaron.Gleason

Thanks for the document! The scheduled bots were running normally until Monday, but after that, we started encountering this error. I faced this issue previously as well, but after a few days, it resolved itself automatically, and the bots resumed triggering and now iam facing the same.

@Charan 3219 maybe a Windows update messed up the formats that cause this problem? 🤔

Hi @Marc Mueller / @Aaron.Gleason

Thanks for the response.

One thing I have observed is that for the past few days, I have been receiving push notifications on my mobile device whenever the bot runs. In my organization, there is a policy that requires push notification approval to log in to any MSTSC session. Could this be causing the issue?

Additionally, I have noticed that if I log in to my VM, close the session(Without log outing), and then run the bot in unattended mode, it triggers successfully. However, if I run the bot after some time, it gives an error(java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NumberFormatException: null). Could this behavior also be related to the issue?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!
