How to View Detailed Database Error Messages in Automation Anywhere?

Hi everyone,

When executing SQL queries through the Database action in Automation Anywhere, I sometimes only receive a very generic error message such as "syntax error" without any detailed database exception or Oracle error code.

Is there any way to view the actual DB error message or stack trace from Automation Anywhere?

For example:

  • More detailed Oracle exceptions (ORA-xxxxx)
  • JDBC driver errors
  • Database execution logs
  • Bot Agent logs related to Database actions

I would like to troubleshoot SQL issues more effectively, but the current error messages are too generic to identify the real cause.

Are there any recommended settings, logs, or debugging methods for this?

@HSKim I’m glad you found the log. I realize this is inconvenient. If you would like to make an enhancement request, send an email to support@automationanywhere.com to get it started.

I sent a new email to support@automationanywhere.com with the subject like this:

"[Enhancement Request] Expose Detailed Database Exceptions in Database Action"

However, I received an automatic reply saying that Case 02313080 is already closed.

This was a completely new email and not a reply to an existing case.

Could you please let me know the correct way to submit a new enhancement request?

Oh, Nevermind.

I found DB Error Log in here, “C:\ProgramData\AutomationAnywhere\BotRunner\Logs”

Check this file: Bot_Launcher_user.log

And… this is bit inconvenient because I have to manually search through large and messy log files to find the actual exception.

It would be really helpful if Automation Anywhere could display the original database error message (such as ORA-xxxxx) directly in the Database action result or bot execution logs.
