How to Centralize License Management in Automation Anywhere Control Rooms?

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask for your experience and best practices regarding Control Room and license management in Automation Anywhere.

In our setup, we currently have 6 Control Rooms, which are distributed across 3 different sub-entities (2 Control Rooms per entity).
For each sub-entity, the structure is:

  • 1 Dev Control Room

  • 1 Prod Control Room

However, these Control Rooms are independent — there is no root / branch hierarchy between them, and all Control Rooms are considered to have the same level of authority.

The main concern we are facing is related to license management:

  • Users can be created in all Control Rooms

  • Licenses can be assigned independently in each Control Room

This makes license tracking and governance difficult and requires continuous manual audits to ensure license usage is correct and compliant.

Our questions is:

  1.   Is it possible (or recommended) to centralize license management in a single Control Room, at least for license allocation and control purposes?
  2.   Have you implemented any architectural or governance approach to avoid decentralized license assignment across multiple Control Rooms?

If you have faced a similar setup or have any suggestions, best practices, or workarounds, I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience.

Thank you in advance.

@sufanzada The best person to discuss this with is your salesperson or your CSM. They can clearly tell you the advantages or disadvantages to having centralized license management.

Internally, we use centralized license management for many of our server clusters. It’s just easier to manage and allows for balancing of licenses automatically as needed.

Thank you for the clarification.

I will align with our relevant contacts (Sales / CSM) to get more detailed information on this.

In the meantime, if you have any additional insights from your own practice or experience, I would really appreciate it if you could share them.

Thanks in advance.
