Hi have been facing issue in connecting the bot. The bot is throwing this error when I tried to install the bot. Can anyone tell me if I have to reinstall the software in my laptop and try again? It’s weird to see that the bot connected the previous day asked for an update and now I’m facing this issue. How to trouble shoot this.

@Rajalaxmi B It appears there is something interfering with the installation of the software.

Check with your IT department to ensure any anti-virus, firewall, MDM, or other software is not interfering with the installation of the bot agent.

@Rajalaxmi B, try the below steps as it looks like the issue is something related to Admin access your local machine.

Solution 1: Run as Administrator & please make sure you have the admin rights locally

  1. Right-click on the installer (AutomationAnywhereBotAgent.exe).
  2. Select Run as administrator.
  3. Proceed with the installation.

Solution 2: Check Folder Permissions

  1. Go to the folder in the error message:
    C:\Users\rajal...AppData\Local\Programs\Automation Anywhere\Bot Agent\...
  2. Right-click the folder > Properties > Security tab.
  3. Make sure your user account has Full Control.
  4. If not, click Edit > grant Full Control, then click Apply.

Solution 3: Temporarily Disable Antivirus or Endpoint Security

Sometimes antivirus or company endpoint protection tools block installation:

  • Temporarily disable antivirus.
  • Retry installation (as admin).

Solution 4: Clean Up Previous Install Attempts

  1. Open File Explorer and go to:
    C:\Users\rajal...AppData\Local\Programs\Automation Anywhere\Bot Agent
  2. Delete the entire folder Bot Agent.
  3. Empty Temp folder: Press Win + R, type %temp%, delete all files.
  4. Try reinstalling the agent as admin.

@Rajalaxmi B Prefer way to install bot agent to make available for all logins is to install with admini rights and install Run as administrator.
