We kicked off our first Chennai Pathfinder chapter meetup with a deep dive into the world of Agentic Process Automation (APA). The session covered product updates, a live demo, and a look at what's coming on the roadmap.

The Problem We're Solving

Here's the pattern that keeps repeating in workflows built on traditional automation: a bot gets plugged into one function, creates a pocket of value there, and stops. The work on either side? Still manual. Still humans bridging the gaps.
Then there's the exception problem. Rule-based automation handles the happy path just fine. The moment something unusual happens — an edge case, a compliance flag, a decision that needs context — the whole thing stalls. Humans get pulled in too late, or too often.

The result? Promising pilots that never scale.

APA: The Framework That Actually Closes the Loop

Agentic Process Automation leverages AI to carry out planning, adapting, making decisions, and executing across systems without waiting for a human to bridge every handoff. At the center is the Mozart Orchestrator: a process reasoning engine that interprets intent, handles exceptions, escalates to humans only when genuinely needed, and keeps an audit trail throughout. Every action. Logged. Governed. Compliant.

The pitch is simple: stop treating AI as a tool, start treating it as a coordinated team.

Recent Innovations Highlighted

Arun K Mudaliar, Principal Product Manager, walked through six significant launches — each one addressing a gap that's been slowing enterprise AI deployments down:

  • Mozart Orchestrator — cross-system agent orchestration, coordinating agents across vendors and platforms with governance built in.
  • Goal-Based Agents — agents that pursue a business outcome by leveraging tools at their disposal. A meaningful distinction in practice.
  • Enterprise UI Agents — end-to-end process execution via UI. No API required on the target system.
  • Automation Co-Pilot+ — natural language to automated action. Describe what you need; the agent handles the rest.
  • AI Agent Evals — benchmark, monitor, and grade agent performance in production. Because deploying without measuring isn't a strategy.
  • MCP Inbound — open agent interoperability, allowing agents from any vendor or platform to plug into the orchestration layer.

Enterprise Claw Agent — Special Preview

Arjun Meda, Director of Community and Learning, gave a demo of the Enterprise Claw Agent, available in early access on the Agentic App Store. It is an autonomous agent that takes a plain English prompt and handles the rest: browser and desktop automation, file reading across PDFs and spreadsheets, and persistent memory across runs. Reasoning runs in the cloud via OpenAI or Anthropic, while automation executes locally through Playwright.

The demo was concrete and deliberate — the agent read expense PDFs, logged into a mock SAP Concur environment, and submitted entries end-to-end. One prompt. No predefined steps. The use case clicked for a lot of people in the room.
One important design principle surfaced during the Q&A: Enterprise Claw Agent works best not as a fully autonomous system, but as a fallback tool inside a larger deterministic automation — with explicit control over which capabilities (web, file access, Python execution) are enabled per run. Autonomy with guardrails, not autonomy without them.

The Hands-On Session — Building a GTM Agent

Led by Shreya Kumar, Technical Community Specialist, attendees built an AI agent to automate a real sales workflow end-to-end using Automation Anywhere's AI Agent Studio

  • Lead Capture — Extract lead data from emails or web forms and auto-populate the CRM
  • Deduplication — Built-in checks identify and merge duplicate records
  • Follow-Up Reminders — The agent schedules nudges so no prospect slips through
  • Process Standardization — Consistent workflows mean every lead is handled the same way, every time

Low-code tools, drag-and-drop components, and prebuilt templates meant attendees could build, test, and deploy a working agent in the session. The takeaway: with AI Agent Studio and the Mozart Orchestrator, the agent development lifecycle has shortened considerably — prototype fast, ship quickly.

Meetup #1 is done. Three speakers, one live demo, one hands-on build session, and a room full of practitioners who came to learn and left with working agents.

Wondering what’s next? Join us for Imagine India 2026 on 2nd July, in Bengaluru. This time - it's bigger, bolder, and built for what’s next. No hype, no fluff— just enterprise-grade AI agents, customer-validated outcomes, and hands-on experiences designed for real business impact. More than a conference, this is the moment India’s automation community comes together to build, learn, and lead
