Why not use SAP BAPIs in RPA?

Through my RPA career I have seen (and see) several bots that use SAP GUI in order to get/create data in SAP BW but I have not seen any (nor my colleagues) that uses BAPIs.

Why is that so? Why not use BAPIs to avoid SAP GUI?
